Rachel Gunn Carr

As the owner and head coach at CrossFit Laramie, I have a passion for working with people to become the best versions of themselves. If you doubt your ability based on prior injuries, age, weight, or fitness level, I am here to help you. If you are an athlete looking to be better at your sport of choice, avoid injury and become a better overall competitor, I am here to help you. I will teach proper movement mechanics (the how and the why) and change your perspective of fitness while helping you achieve your best health and fitness goals.

I moved to Laramie in March 2013 from Austin, Texas with my husband Brad. We have 6 cats and 2 dogs. I owned and operated CrossFit Four Points in Austin and was the head coach at TexFit CrossFit before that.

I enjoy being active and am open to trying anything. I’ve played, competed and/or tried just about every sport and activity from disc golf to ice hockey. I competed on the U.S. National Team for Sprint Kayaking competing on both the National and International levels. I have competed in the U.S. Olympic Festival five times, Pan American Championships, numerous U.S. National Championships, U.S. Olympic Trials and many other events. I was the Junior National Champion as well as being a member of the U.S. National Team. I am a Category 2 bicycle racer having raced in California, Texas, Arkansas, Vermont, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Washington D.C. I have completed IronMan Triathlons, Eco-Challenge adventure races, played water polo, run full and half marathon’s, swam on master’s swim teams, been an avid rock climber, competed in numerous CrossFit events, etc.

I am currently training for the 2019 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, a 3000 mile rowing event across the Atlantic Ocean and multiple running marathon events.

Brad Carr

After finishing a Ph.D. in Geophysics at the University of Wyoming in 1995, I left Laramie and did an academic and professional “loop” tour of the United States and Canada. Since an early age, I’ve always been active in outdoor recreational sports and sport training. Over the years, my sports typically range between hiking, backpacking, skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, road cycling, canoeing and whitewater kayaking with the primary sport depending on where I lived at that point in my life/career. Yet, since 1994, I’ve mostly been involved with Canoe & Kayak sport as an athlete, coach and administrator.

I started CrossFit in 2009, been a Level 1 coach since 2014, and a CrossFit affiliate co-owner with my wife, Rachel, since 2012. CrossFit has been the best way to stay in shape for both the summer fieldwork season as well as my recreational interests in competitive kayaking (i.e. Canoe/Kayak Polo) and bicycling (both mountain and road). Since starting CrossFit, I’ve found a higher state of “baseline” fitness keeps me better prepared for the numerous physical challenges that I deal with in my current position as a Research Scientist/Facility Manager in the Dept. of Geology & Geophysics at UW.

Abby Urban

My name is Abby Urban; I am currently in Nursing School at Laramie County Community College. I started crossfit in 2013 and totally loved it! After high school and my swimming career ended and I continued to enjoy the variety crossfit offers. It was perfect for me because I am constantly trying new things, and I easily get bored with one training plan. I enjoy mountain biking, climbing, triathlons, yoga, and everything outdoors (except for winter camping).  The functional fitness I gain from crossfit helps me improve in all of these activities, and allows me to have the strength and endurance needed to try many new things along the way.

I got my L1 crossfit trainer in June 2017, I chose to start coaching Crossfit because I love that I can help people better their lives outside of the gym. I want to help people reach their goals outside of the gym, by working hard at the gym!
